We were so fortunate to be invited back for another year of fun with Pixie Dust Wishes for their annual fundraising event in State College, PA! In years past, the lovely Dippin Dot has been their Peter Pan, but since she moved to Florida this year, Director Jaimie Miller asked if we might know of another person who could help bring the magic as Peter this year.
I quickly told her I thought we could do even better than that, and called “Lovelies, assemble!” Here are a few magical photos from our special time, with more surely to follow. Our Tinkerbell became a dear friend of this year’s Wish recipient, Nathan (he gets to go to Disney World!!!) Peter, Wendy, Tink and the Mermaid led the fun walk with the children, who all looked splendid in their costumes – a Potato Head Family, Aladdin & the Genie, Elsa, Andy’s Toys, and many more!
Hook and His first mate were seen trying to recruit pirate dogs, take over clubhouses pirate hangouts, and even harass Tink, We day, and Peter. Fortunately, some brave young Lost Boy recruits came to the rescue of Peter and Wendy, and the Mermaid relentlessly followed Hook around, making “tick tock” noises to drive him mad!

Strolling the park and encouraging runners and walkers alike were our Bert and Mary Poppins. Many of the older Disney fans were excited to recognize that we were celebrating a very jolly holiday together!
Of course, our dear County Commissioners Mike Pipe and Mark Higgins were present, as was Mr. Kerry Beninghoff, who spoke eloquently about his young daughter’s passing and the gifts of celebrating life.
In the end, we feel like our renewed pursuit of spreading Loveliness in our community was achieved this weekend, and we are all better for it. The children remind us what it is to get out of bed and face struggle with bravery every day, and the Lovelies hope that we brought a little extra pixie dust and Disney magic to their lives.
Thank you to Pixie Dust Wishes for allowing us to BE LOVELY!
